The Chinese Martial Art of Wing Chun Kung Fu (also known as Ving Tsun, Wingchun or Vingtsun) is a traditional southern style of kung fu. Wing Chun was made famous in the western world by Bruce Lee (student of Yip Man). Wing Chun (Ving Tsun) does not require great strength or speed but focuses on developing of skill and co-ordination.

Wing Chun (Ving Tsun) is characterized by its linear motions and allowing a practitioner to deflect and redirect any force that is directed to them while countering.

Proper deflection and redirection is obtained through proper positioning, good footwork, co-ordination of hands and feet and proper timing. Christian Wushu Fellowship offers classes in the Yip Man/Moy Yat lineage of Wing Chun (Ving Tsun or Yong Chon) under the teaching of Sifu Nelson Chan.

The Class Curriculum consists of the following:

  • Martial Art Fundamentals
  • Sil Lim Tao(Little Idea) Form
  • Chum Kiu (Searching the Bridge) Form
  • Biu Jee (Darting Fingers) Form
  • Drills (Lap sau, Pak sau, etc)
  • 108 Mook Yan Jong (Wooden Dummy) Form
  • Chi Sao (Sticky Hands)
  • Weapons

Wing Chun (Ving Tsun) has always focused on being a practical form of self-defense. But more importantly, Wing Chun has a rich philosophy and culture with many Kung fu sayings or "Kuen Kuit" and traditions making it popular with people that want to enjoy the Chinese culture while learning a practical Chinese Martial Art.

Wing Chun is recognized for it's hand movements and close-range, but it also has low line kicking. Because of Wing Chun's principles of body unity, people of all ages can enjoy Wing Chun, even those with arthritis, mild forms of hip pain, or other joint issues. At the Christian Wushu Fellowship we believe in focusing on studying Wing Chun as an art form, and as a springboard to exploring the Chinese culture and tradition.

Wing Chun (Ving Tsun) uses a set of scientific and logical concepts and principles which allows Wing Chun practitioners to decide and check what is correct or incorrect Wing Chun Gung Fu. This helps keep the art of Wing Chun a pure and integrated self-defense system, while removing restriction of technique as long as the Wing Chun practitioner is consistent with the Wing Chun principles and concepts.
